About Newport Retreat

We are Ron and Elisa, and we've lived in Newport Beach most of our lives. In 2023 we built Harbor Lookout and Surf Casita — two vacation rentals in the heart of the Balboa Peninsula — from the ground up, because we wanted to offer the kind of place we'd want to stay in ourselves.

220 20th Street sits on the bay side of the Peninsula — two minutes to the sand and the pier, two minutes to Marina Park and the calm water at Mom's Beach, and far enough from the boardwalk that at night all you hear is the gentle rhythm of the surf. Locals call it the Goldilocks Zone. After a lifetime here, we agree.

Custom Designed for Newport Living

Central air conditioning, because August on the Peninsula is warm and many homes don't offer it. A garage with a Level 2 EV charger, because parking here is the first thing every guest worries about. A rooftop deck upstairs and a fire-pit courtyard downstairs for outdoor living. Real beds in real bedrooms, dressed in Brooklinen bedding. Built the way we'd want it, then furnished the same way.

Local Knowledge & Personalized Service

We live nearby. We answer our own messages, usually within the hour. Before you arrive we'll send our short list: where to park, which beach for the kids and which for surf, where to rent bikes, and where the locals actually eat. If something isn't right, you'll hear from us, not a call center.
